St. Andrew’s Cheddar – 100gApril 28, 2022
Celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee bank holiday with this fine selection of British Cheese fit for all Kings and Queens.
100g – St Andrew’s farmhouse cheddar – On the East Neuk, in the kingdom of Fife sits the farm of Jane and Robert Stewart where their herd of Friesian cows gaze out over the Firth of Forth. This cheddar is 12 months old and has the rich almost fruity flavour of Scottish cheddar with a hint of the sharpness which comes from the salt of the sea. Made with unpasteurised milk and traditional rennet.
100g – Colston Bassett Stilton – In our opinion, the best stilton – creamy, mellow with distinct and complex blue veining. Made in Nottinghamshire using traditional methods, Colston Bassett is a superb example of the finest hand ladled stilton. Made with pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet.
100g – Cornish Yarg – Fast becoming a classic British cheese, Cornish Yarg was originally introduced to the market shortly after the second world war. Originally developed by the Gray family (hence the name yarg – work it out!) it is now made at Lynher dairies at Ponsanooth. Cornish Yarg is mild and citrusy yet complex with a creamy texture. The cheese is famously wrapped in nettle leaves which aids the development of moulds which add a herby, mushroom flavour to the cheese. All that and it looks beautiful on the cheeseboard. Made with pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet.
100g – Red Windsor – It has to be done. Red Windsor is made in Leicestershire at the Long Clawson dairy and is a blend of cheddar with port and brandy, making it an interesting shade of pink. Made with pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet. (also contains Port (1%), Brandy (0.5%), Colour (Cochineal).
100g Cenarth Brie – Made by Gwynfor and Thelma Adams in the heart of West Wales comes this soft, buttery hand made brie with more flavour than usual in a British brie. Made with pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet
One tin of “GrateBritain” buttercrumb biscuits either Cheddar or Stilton flavour (please specify in the notes section if you have a preference).
