Coastal Cheddar is made at the Ford Farm Dairy located in Dorset on the world heritage Jurassic Coastline in the salty sea air. Coastal was developed to appeal to the consumer demand for rich, rugged and mature cheddars. Aged for a minimum of fifteen months, Coastal is often characterised with a distinctive crunch – a result of the calcium lactate crystals which form naturally in the cheese as it matures. Coastal was first launched in 2000. It is widely available in the UK but has really stolen the show across the Atlantic in North America. It is now one of the biggest selling branded Cheddars in the USA and it has undoubtedly helped Ford Farm win the highly prestigious and competitive Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Export category on two separate occasions. Made with pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet.
